“French women are known for wearing scarves. Starting in September and until summer arrives; this is a most important accessory. The scarf may be striped or patterned, colorful, wrinkled and is much bigger than the scarves you probably have. Women just wrap the scarf around their neck in a "Je suis belle et ça ne demande aucun effort*" sort of way and off they go.”
“Since I have lived in Paris, I have realized that these ladies are on to something. I find I am much warmer wearing a scarf, even if I’m not wearing a jacket, so here is my knit version of the French scarf. It’s knit on the bias so the variegated yarn makes diagonal stripes and stitches are carefully dropped to make a pattern in the opposite direction. This creates a scarf that tends to be a little more of a parallelogram than a rectangle, but I promise, it’s nice that way. “ Reprinted by permission from Kate Gilbert.
New sock architecture! Come learn another method of knitting socks. This is an intriguing way to make a basic sock and if you are getting tired of the same old construction this will be a mind expanding experience. You will be making a baby sock so we can move through the techniques quickly. For the class you will need Cat Bordhi's book "New Pathways for Sock Knitters", worsted weight yarn and a set of double point needles that will give you a gauge of 5 or 6 stitches to the inch knitting in the round.
We have a project for you! Knitted lace with the beads added as you go. The Aspen Leaf Scarf is our choice for adding beads. This scarf has an eyelet border with larger leaves surrounding smaller ones. If you are an adventurous intermediate knitter this is a great project for you.
You will need to pick up approx. 250 size 6 beads for the scarf size.

This is a pattern from Knitty.com. The designer says “This lace hat was inspired by my two favorite things about the fall: cool, crisp weather, and beautifully-colored leaves. This hat is worked from the top down, and the increases for the crown shaping are integrated into the lace pattern.”

Join us as we begin a new series of classes focusing on stitch patterns. Our first choice is the Jewel Cross-Rib. This is an entertaining knit and easy to memorize. The pattern is actually reversible even though that wasn't the intent. This means it will work well for blankets and scarves. Currently Meg is using the pattern to make a shrug. You can really see the versatility in this stitch.

Join us as we continue our new series of classes focusing on stitch patterns. Our second choice is the Scroll Pattern. This is a lovely pattern with soft undulating curves. It uses separating increases and decreases. Even though this may sound confusing, it's not really hard. The Scroll Pattern would look wonderful in a stole or afghan.
From Interweave Knits, Spring 2008 we have chosen the Flutter Sleeve Cardigan. “A high ribbed waistline flatters a variety of body shapes and creates a graceful fullness in the bodice.
