BIND-OFFS
Just as there are many types of casting on, there are as many ways of binding off. You will learn several ways including some stretchy bind off’s for toe up socks and shawls. Liz will show you some of the tips we use to keep the ending loose. Please bring at least 5 swatches on needles or stitch holders. You will need something to bind off!

Have you ever found a great stitch pattern written for a flat project and wanted to use it in a scarf or hat but couldn’t figure out how to change the pattern? Than this is the class for you. Sue will help you figure out how to translate the pattern into your project. The first class will be working on the pattern, homework will be knitting your translation and the second class will be fixing any problems you may have encountered.

Description:
MOSAIC KNITTING
Mosaic knitting uses two colors (usually both held at one side), but only one yarn is handled at time. This is similar to Fair Isle knitting but a little simpler. Sue will show you several different mosaic patterns and after practicing the patterns in the first hour you may start a project of your choice during the second hour.

Bring your leftovers and see how they will work with everyone else’s. We will begin by separating all the yarns in color families and then everyone will take a couple of yards each of any yarns that catch their fancy. You can then knit a shawl or scarf lengthways. Bring long circular needles in a range of sizes and we will see what works with your yarn choices. Every shawl comes out so different!

Do you need a quick gift? We have something different in mind for you this year. We will be knitting bracelets using small gauge wire and beads. Another option is to make a wrap for votive candleholders or even larger pillars. You should be able to knit one or two in an evening. You will need to purchase the beads and wire before class.
